Puppies
I breed one to three exceptional litters each year
with particular attention to temperament, beauty,
health and reasonable inbreeding coefficients.
Price? Breeders charge anywhere from $3500 to $4500 for puppies. Price is NOT an indicator of quality, health or temperament. Buyers should fully investigate breeders with regards to 1) contractual health guarantees, 2) extended pedigree health information and 3) buyers should, if at all possible, make a visit to the breeder’s home to evaluate the temperament of the parents and see the conditions in which the puppies are raised. Early experiences and conditions have a significant effect on puppy development. Buyers should also do their research on the inbreeding coefficients of any litter under consideration. Buyers should be aware that the USDA requires breeders with more than four females to make all sales in person with buyers or, if they ship “sight unseen” even one dog, they must be inspected and licensed by USDA. This measure is meant to crack down on unscrupulopus breeders who sell unhealthy puppies on the internet to unsuspecting buyers and is designed to protect the puppy buyer. Ear cropping
I prefer not to crop ears on pet puppies. Our show prospects ears are cropped as this is my preference in the show ring, however the surgery is primarily cosmetic. For those people who want cropped ears, they can either seek a vet in their area to crop after puppy comes home or use my vet. The cost is an additional $500 to crop. Aftercare is the responsibility of the new owner which entails stitch removal, weeks to months of taping and posting ears once they are healed. Owners will need either a local vet experienced in ear crops or an experienced GP, Doberman, Boxer, Schnauzer or Dane breeder/owner who can support you. Some vets will not provide aftercare and taping to puppies they did not crop due to the liability if the ears fail to stand. The puppy’s training and socialization must proceed as it would with any other puppy without cropped ears, so ear cropping requires even more dedication on the part of new owners.
Tails
Tails and dewclaws are typically removed within the first 48 hours. When we are producing a litter we intend to dock, buyers who want a natural tail need to get their reservations in and pay in full for the puppy prior to their birth. A puppy of your preferred color and gender will be chosen and left natural if possible, but cannot be guaranteed. When we are producing a litter where we expect to export, the entire litter may be left natural and tails will be docked if requested at 8-9 weeks of age.
